2012 Chocolate Festival

Description:                                         Join the Red Cross at its 15th Annual Chocolate Festival
            All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt. The American Red Cross of Medina County and the J.M. Smucker Company invite you and all your friends to the 15th annual "For the Love of Chocolate" Festival.  The 2012 event will feature decadent chocolate items from over 30 chocolatiers, Saturday, February 4, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Medina Performing Arts Center at Medina High School, 851 Weymouth Rd., Medina.
           If you love chocolate, you’ll love this year’s event.  All attendees age 5 and older must have a ticket to enter the event.  New ticket prices are $12 and $7.   Other new additions are two entrances and access to more parking.
            This family-oriented event features a Children’s Chocolate Cookie Contest; a Decadent Chocolate Dessert Contest for professional cooks and adult and teen hobby cooks sponsored by Buehler’s Fresh Foods; a Children’s Candyland area with games and amusements sponsored by Medina County District Library; and a bake sale featuring contest winners.  Chocolatiers also sell scrumptious items that are perfect for Valentine’s Day.
            The baking contests are held at Buehler’s River Styx Community Room, Friday, February 3.  Categories include Preschool, Elementary School, Middle School, High School, Adult Hobby Cook (18 and older) and Professional.  Entry forms will be available at local Buehler’s stores, local libraries and the American Red Cross, and must be submitted by January 30, 2012.
            Chocolatier samples the day of the festival include items like truffles; cookie truffles; chocolate chip cookies; chocolate toffee macaroons; cherry chocolate cookies, Rocher chocolates; black cake; mini s’mores; fudge; lollipops; chocolate-covered strawberries; hot nuts and crispies in milk chocolate; chocolate decadent brownies; chocolate pretzel rods; peanut butter cups; chocolate pies; chocolate clusters; chocolate-covered Oreos; espresso milkshakes; chocolate popcorn; chocolate mini puffs; buckeyes; chocolate-covered cheesecake; cake balls and chocolate suckers.
            Chocolatiers so far include Bob Evans Restaurants, Buehler’s Fresh Foods, Burbank Parke Care Center, Commissioner Steve Hambley, Cool Beans Café, Coppertop at Cherokee Hills, Devine Delights, Discount Drug Mart, Dove Chocolate Discoveries Chocolatier, Earth Fare, Eat’n Park Restaurant, Giant Eagle-Wadsworth, Just Desserts, Katy’s Kreations, Keric Korn and Candy, LemonBerry, Lindt Chocolates, Lodi Station Outlets, Mama Jo Homestyle Pies, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Maximum Potential Chiropractic, McJak Candy Company, Medina County Auditor, Medina Count Clerk of Courts, Medina County Recorder, Michelle Candle Company, River Styx Market, Rose’s Kitchen Delights, Save Ohio Strays, Scentsy, Silpada Designs Jewelry, Steak & Shake, The Center Café at Medina County Career Center.
            The Snack Bar for those looking for lunch at the event is provided by Dominic’s Restaurant.
