Description:

During the last Ice Age, many wonderful large mammals roamed what is today Ohio. What were these animals like, and how did they live? Along with exploring these questions, we will be highlighting the Stag-Moose whose remains were unearthed near Chippewa Lake in 2008. We’ll end with a discussion of why these magnificent mammals disappeared from Ohio and the face of the earth. Bob Glotzhober is Senior Curator of Natural History at the Ohio Historical Society where he has worked since 1980. He is best known for his work with dragonflies but has a generalist’s knowledge and enthusiasm about almost every aspect of Ohio’s natural heritage. Mr. Glotzhober is currently coordinating a project with several other people to establish a database of all Ice Age mammals. Ages 10 to adult. No registration required. Free.
