Anna Bowman: The Cello Bridge Project

Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) continues its free Wadsworth Library concert series with cellist Anna Bowman on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at 2:00 pm. Anna will present a program entitled “The Bridge Project”, where she aims to bridge the classical divide between audience and performer. Anna will highlight works by such composers as Johann Sebastian Bach, Sergei Prokofiev, Gaspar Cassado, Stephen Mitton and Mark O’Connor.

About the Artist

Cellist Anna Bowman is a devoted and versatile young musician. Driven by her love of music, Anna teaches in and around the Cleveland area while performing across the nation. Admired for her chamber music performances, Anna co-founded the Autana Trio with whom she won top prizes at the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition and has gained a high standing among various audiences. Her chamber music career has included working with many talented musicians such as Sharon Robinson, Joel Krosnick, Jaime Laredo, Joel Smirnoff, Philip Setzer, Vivian Weilerstein, and Noah Bendix-Balgley, and Ani Kavafian. Anna has served as Principal Cellist of the Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra in Severance Hall, the Banff Summer Music Festival Orchestra, and has performed with the New York String Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. She performs regularly with Opus 216, Classical Revolution Cleveland, CityMusic Cleveland, and the Cleveland Cello Quartet.

Believing that education on all levels is essential to the future of classical music, Anna is passionately involved in teaching the next generation of musicians. She is the Director of the Bowman School of Music, a boutique music school based in Northeast Ohio, and is the Adjunct Cello Professor at The College of Wooster. She has given lessons and masterclasses at the Cleveland Institute of Music and around the greater Cleveland area and throughout the United States. Anna has given many outreach performances and has collaborated with the Cleveland community to bring classical music to audiences that have limited access to the arts, most recently collaborating with the Arts Renaissance for Kids program and Classical Revolution Cleveland’s JOIN concerts.

Anna was accepted to the Cleveland Institute of Music studying with Cavani Quartet cellist, Merry Peckham. Anna continued at CIM to receive her master’s degree in Cello Performance where she studied under Grammy Nominated cellist, Sharon Robinson. Anna plays on a Carrie Scoggins cello made in 2008 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
