Celebrating Black History

Thursday, February 21 - 7:00 PM


“Knowing your history and culture strengthens who you are,” says event chairperson, Kim Oliver. “Sharing your history and culture with others develops healthy relationships and destroys ignorance and racism.” The program, Celebrating Black History Through Music, Dance and Story, will not only showcase the arts, but will give community members a chance to become a part of the celebration.

 

The community is invited to join in the fun by becoming a member of the evening’s Diversity Choir. Just come early for a brief rehearsal that evening at 6 pm, followed by the performance. Any member of the community is welcome to be a part of the choir.

 

In addition, the evening will feature a variety of groups from the area. Claggett Middle School students, the Diversity Choir and soloist Sherril Rundle will fill the space with music. The Fellowship Baptist Youth Dance Troupe will celebrate through dance. Stories about prominent black figures will be told throughout the evening by community members.
