About the Musicians
Cleveland-based jazz vocalist Celine Opdycke is a recent graduate from the Oberlin
Conservatory of Music, studying privately with vocalist La Tanya Hall and trumpet player
Eddie Henderson. Growing up on swing records from the 1930s and 40s, Celine traces
her musical roots to traditional jazz. She is also influenced by a wide variety of music,
ranging from bebop to funk to classic rock. Fluent in French, Spanish and English,
Celine enjoys using language as a tool to tell a good story, and approaches music as a
medium to connect with her audience and fellow musicians.
Dan Bruce is a recent transplant to Ohio after spending a decade as an important
member of Chicago’s jazz community. He is active throughout the Midwest and
nationally as a performer, recording artist, composer and educator. He has performed
on more than twenty albums as a sideman and is releasing his second album as a
leader this summer. As a performer and recording artist, Bruce has had the opportunity
to work with several eminent musicians including Seamus Blake, Ali Jackson, Dan Wall,
Lynn Seaton and The Cleveland Jazz Orchestra.
