Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) and the Wadsworth Public Library continue Live at the Library with world percussionist Daniel Shiller on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 2 pm at the Wadsworth Public Library, 132 Broad Street, Wadsworth, OH 44281.
Anansi the spider is the most popular character in West African folklore. He originated with the Akan people of Ghana, and is associated with stories, wisdom, knowledge, and trickery. Anansi is the keeper of all of the world’s stories, and his stories found their way to the Caribbean during the days of the slave trade. Now found all over the world, Anansi's stories, spiders, and their webs, inspired this performance. Utilizing the Gyil from Ghana, and the Steel Pan from Trinidad, both of which contain imagery from Spiders, to not only tell the stories of where they come from, but by connecting threads to other countries such as Japan, Ireland, Cuba, and the United States, we can all share in the wisdom and knowledge of Anansi the spider.
