Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) continues its free Sunday programs at the Wadsworth Public Library, 132 Broad Street, Wadsworth, with the EEJ Firelands Trio on June 13, 2021, at 2 pm.
The EEJ Firelands Trio will explore the various musical periods of pianist/composer Herbie Hancock’s legendary career — from “Maiden Voyage” to “Rockit” and more. The trio will discuss important milestones in Herbie’s career and will end the program with a Q & A.

About The Artists
Eric Everett has nearly four decades of drumming experience, studying privately at Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory with Dr. George Kiteley, performing in Case Western Reserve University’s small group Jazz and Big Band ensembles under Paul Ferguson. At CWRU, he participated in the Tri-C Jazz Fest and was also a member of two popular Cleveland 90’s bands, Public Library and Five Minutes Fast. Eric leads “Eric Everett Jazz,” a popular Cleveland jazz & R&B band, and also has been a backing drummer for jazz vocalists, Leah Natale and Evelyn Wright. He has been a contributing writer for Modern Drummer, Classic Drummer, Not So Modern Drummer, The Drummer’s Journal UK, Drum! and DrumHead Magazine and has interviewed numerous influential drummers, including Sheila E, Ignacio Berroa, Willie Jones III, Bernard Purdie. T.S. Monk III, Allison Miller, Les DeMerle, Ralph Peterson Jr., Jonathan Joseph, Rod Morgenstein, and Daru Jones, among others.
Duncan Crooks is a jazz pianist and composer who has been playing professionally for over 30 years, beginning as a teenager in R&B/Fusion bands in Cleveland, Ohio, and Los Angeles, California. Originally from Cleveland Heights, and a graduate of Cleveland Heights High School, Duncan went on to Capital University in Columbus to study music and arranging. While at Capital, Duncan was the winner of the Diversified Music Publishers Award for “Best College-level Composer.” From there, he moved to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music where he graduated summa cum laude. Over the years, Duncan has continuously played with the finest jazz musicians and vocalists Northeast Ohio has to offer, in addition to touring with The Glenn Miller Orchestra, and performing with Kenny Burrell, Nick Brignola, and other luminaries.
Jeff Slater earned his bachelor’s of music in music theory and french horn at Baldwin-Wallace University and did master’s work in classical and jazz music theory at the University of Wisconsin at Madison and Truman State University. Jeff plays both electric and upright bass and is well versed in all styles of jazz, R&B, rock, and world music.
