Wellington, formerly known as the “Cheese Capital of the World” will be the program for the York Township Historical Society meeting on Monday, October 14 at 7:00 PM at the one-room schoolhouse located at 6547 Spellman Street in Mallet Creek (corner of SR18 and SR 252). Program speaker Cindy Norton will talk about Wellington’s proud history in the cheese trade with 40 factories producing cheese in the late 1800’s shipping nearly 6.5 million pounds of cheese and over 1 million pounds of butter.
